Leading Edge Group Computers and Consumables resellers move to online selling

Press Release: Adelaide: Feb 18, 2005

Several members of the Leading Edge Computers group, a national chain of independently-owned distributors of PCs, consumables and office equipment have moved to online selling.

Darryl Gravestocks, Managing Director of Murray Computer and Office Shop said that for some time group members have been considering this move, but have been restricted due to unavailable technology.

"In our industry product and pricing can change daily so it is impossible for us to have accurate price lists within our accounting and inventory systems, let alone display them online through an online ecommerce catalogue. We needed a mechanism and automated process that would populate our online catalogue with accurate data, ready for display on the internet. From this, my customers could then access the catalogue, view their own specific pricing and place orders" said Mr Gravestocks.

Strategic Ecommerce, an Australian company who specialises in ecommerce software, has been engaged to develop electronic product and pricing data feeds for group members.

The Strategic Ecommerce data feed application, called Automated Price Manager, will gather information from key suppliers such as Tech Pacific, Canon and translate this data into a common format. Group members have the option of editing and saving this data to suit their preferences which will then be imported into their own accounting and inventory systems or straight-out to their StraightSELL online storefront.

Mrs Jane Gray, Managing Director of Whyalla Computer Centre said that she was very excited about this project as it was a way to grow her business at minimal time and cost.

"StraightSELL will provide the same value as having two sales representatives on the road as potential customers will now be able to find us easier, and to place orders. Not only do I have available on the internet a catalogue of everything that I can supply, when orders are placed through the catalogue the purchase order information is automatically imported into my accounting system without the need for my staff to manually key them in. This saves a lot of time for us which can now be used to provide even better service to our customers" added Mrs Gray.

It is expected that several members of the group nationally will utilise the data feeds over the next 12 months providing the Leading Edge Computers an advantage over competitors in the same market.
